Youth and Sports Minister, Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye has advised the individual families of the May 9 victims to direct their grievances’ to the office the director general’s office and not to discuss it on various media platforms.
Families of the various victims gathered at the Accra Sports Stadium to commemorate the disaster that happened in May 9, 2001 which has been recognized as the world second disaster in sports.
Speaking at the commemoration, he said, “A day like this is a day of remembrance, a solemn occasion and not a day of fun fair but a day of reflection.”
“I thank you all for coming and I wish to urge the families to remain resolute, the trustees have remained faithful to their mandates and am sure that any displeasure on the part of any family of the victims will be channeled through the office of the director general’s so that it will be address.”
“The newspapers, the radio and the television are not the right channel to address the individual concern of the victims of this tragedy.”
“The board of trustees are always available to channel their concern and problem through them for it to be address.” He added.
