Black Stars skipper John Mensah is contemplating parting ways with French side Olympic Lyon.
The Lyon defender has said in an interview that there has been a mutual agreement between himself and his employers to terminate his five-year contract abruptly, although he has a year more with the French giants.
The strong defender pointed out he was on the brink of deciding on his future with the club.
“I am in talks with my agent Fabian and we are considering some factors before we arrive at decision- whether I’m moving or not.
“The idea of parting with Lyon has arisen due to my frequent injuries. I discussed the issue with my employers and my agent and they were in support of my decision,” he added.
According to Mensah, he had no club in mind yet, but his agent was working around the clock to get him one; that is if he would leave the French side.
The former Sunderland loan player joined Lyon in April 2007. He was a key performer at the initial stages of his contract but injuries have blighted his fine form lately.
His contribution in the last Nations Cup was phenomenal, scoring two important goals for his country but injury did not permit him to give his best shot to the Black Stars who finished a disappointing fourth.
Mensah is expected to arrive home from his France base tonight or tomorrow.
