Meteors beef up for Mozambique

The technical handlers of Ghana’s Olympic team, the Black Meteors have invited attacking trio for Sunday’s All-Africa Games home qualifier against Mozambique.

Ghana lost the first leg 1-0 in Maputo courtesy an 86th minute own goal by midfielder Kojo Poku and must overturn the score-line by a two-goal margin in order to book a ticket to the 2015 All-Africa Games set for Brazzaville, Congo later in September.

The second leg has been confirmed for the Tamale Stadium at 3pm on Sunday.

“We have decided to play the game at the Tamale stadium because it is a good ground for us to concentrate as well as get the needed support from the home fans in order to achieve our qualification,” said MNS Doe, a Ghana FA Executive Committee member who also doubles as the chairman of the Black Meteors management team.

“The decision has already been communicated to Caf,” he added.

Free State Stars forward Adam Basit’s profligacy in the away tie against Mozambique looks to have cost him his place for the crucial return leg as he has been dropped while three new strikers have been invited as Ghana intends to go broke for the goals.

Supersport.com has confirmed that Italy-based Saeed Ahmed Saaed, FC Sion’s Ebenezer Assifuah and Ghana under-20 striker Samuel Afful have been invited to join camp.

Meanwhile, only one of Asante Kotoko’s quartet in the squad for the first leg, Dauda Mohammed, survived the list for this weekend’s encounter.
