The national U-23 soccer side, the Black Meteors lost 0-2 to their Burkinabe counterparts in the first leg Olympic Games qualifier played in Burkina Faso on Wednesday
Ghana conceded a goal apiece in each half with Quadregou putting the Young Stallions ahead after connecting a header past goalkeeper Eric Nii Baah in the first half.
The Black Meteors struggled to level up the scoring but had almost all their moves into the area of their opponents whistled against.
The first half ended with Burkina Faso leading 1-0.
Back from recess, Ghana pushed for the equaliser but again fell back after goalkeeper Eric Nii Baah had mistimed a freekick which he had a hand to it but saw it slip through into the post.
Despite the defeat, Ghana’s dream of playing in the Beijing Games remains on course as the team seeks to turn around the scoreline in the return leg in a fortnight’s time.
Three tickets would be available to next year’s football competition at the Olympic Games from the African continent at the end of the qualifying campaign.
