Meteors round up preparations for Athens

Lisbon (Portugal) - Ghana?s Olympic football team, the Black Meteors rounded up their preparations for the Athens games after winning the trophy for a four-club tournament, Sunday morning.

The four-club tournament, which involved Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto and a division one side formed part of the Black Meteors? preparations for the Athens Olympic games.

The Black Meteors, Saturday evening beat Benfica 2-1 after a 3-1 win over reigning European champions, FC Porto 3-1 in the morning.

On Sunday morning, the national Olympic squad drew 1-1 in their last game with a Portuguese division one side - ending their one-month training tour of Portugal.

Ghana?s Asamoah Gyan was voted the tournament?s best player with Alhassan Mohammed picking up the best goalkeeper award.

The entire Meteors? test games were against lower division clubs with FC Porto and Benfica fielding their under-23 sides.

The Black Meteors are expected to arrive in the Greek capital, Athens Monday after going unbeaten in seven trial games, winning seven and drawing one.

Ghana?s Olympic football team kick off the Olympic tournament against the Azzurrini of Italy on Thursday.
