Cape Coast, Nov.7, GNA - Mfantsipim secondary school inflicted a 3-2 defeat on Jukwa Secondary school to qualify for the finals in their Zone Three inter schools and colleges semi-final soccer match played at the Cape Coast sports stadium on Thursday.
From the blast of the whistle, the Jukwa boys dominated the first half, but they had to wait until the 35th minute before they scored the opener through inside left Pius Agyeman Dua.
Mfantsipim secondary resumed strongly and got the equaliser through centre forward, David Addai, in the 50th minute.
They continued to pile pressure on Jukwa secondary and following a combination initiated at the right flank Addai who played a good game, increased the tally to 2-1 with a header in the 55th minute. But the cheers that greeted this goal had scarcely died down when Jukwa secondary school levelled up matters with a spot kick taken by centre half, Emmanuel Amonoo, in the 58th minute.
From then on, the game became a ding -dong battle and when all things pointed to a draw game, a hard pressed defender of Jukwa secondary handled the ball in the vital area.
Cape Coast based Referee Jeffery Amamoo awarded a penalty to Mfantsipim school for centre half Raphael Essien to score from the resultant kick to qualify for the finals.
In the girls encounter Mankessim secondary technical whipped Wesley girls high school 5-1 to qualify for the finals.
