Mighty Jets begin surge

Accra, Nov 28, GNA - Tudu Mighty stroke twice in second half to beat visiting New Edubiase 2-1 to begin a dream surge in the Glo Premier League and mark their fourth win in 13 games.

The homers had to be rejuvenated from recess to cancel an eighth minute lead by the visitors Emmanuel Baffour in a game that Edubiase had wrapped around their fingers in the first half.

Jets needing a win to move their haul from a sorry 11 points to 14 and boast to their maiden campaign in the elite division appeared fatigued, slow, lacked ideas and with inexperience telling in every move, Edubiase, enjoying a second successful appearance in the Premiership stayed in charge and could have scored more than once to put the game beyond their host. Just a minute from recess, Jets equalized beautifully when Mohammed Mukson profited from a lousy defending by the visitors defence to give the homers a welcoming lifeline.

The debutants did not look back after the goal and managed to take charge of the game in a manner that reduced Edubiase to passengers with occasional threats which saw substitute Michael Ocansey almost putting them ahead again in 71 and 86 minutes respectively.

Ocansey second loss was particularly painful because it was a well taken lob over compromised goalkeeper Frank Andoh that bounced once and changed direction to safety to the relief of the host.

When the game was restarted from the resultant goal kick, a long ball found substitute Kofi Owusu and the bulky attacker outpaced his markers before delivering a bullet that zoomed past goalkeeper Emmanuel Ofori who replaced injured first choice, Collins Addo from recess for the winner.
