Ace Sports Consultant, Foussena Djagba, has tagged Morocco’s decision to pull out of hosting the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations as dishonest, unfair and disappointing.

Morocco opted out of the competition citing concerns with the deadly Ebola outbreak and Ms Djagba is adamant the North Africans have been economical with the real reason why they have decided not to host the competition with barely three months to go.

She told GNA Sports that “Morocco’s decision not to host the competition is very unfair to the rest of Africa. Their excuse about Ebola seems dishonest because even when other airlines stopped operations to the Ebola affected countries, Royal Air Marci (RAM) did no such thing.

“When some countries were afraid to travel to Guinea for the qualifiers because of their issues with the Ebola outbreak, Morocco took Guinea in and had Casablanca host all their matches.

“So what then is changed now? It is obvious it is either the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of Morocco are not ready for the tournament or are afraid of the influx of potential immigrants that could travel to Europe easily through Morocco.”

The Sports Consultant said “At this rate, I am thankful FIFA did not award Morocco the rights to host the World Cup when they sent in their bid years ago. Painting Africa in a bad light is not pleasant.”

Morocco attempted to have the Confederation of African Football (CAF), postpone the tournament for a year due to the Ebola outbreak.

The North Africans, banned by CAF from the competition suggested the visit of travelling supporters to Morocco could put them as risk.

While Gabon, Egypt and Angola are thought to have expressed interest in hosting the competition scheduled for January 11- February 8, CAF are yet to announce a new
