Speaking in an interview after the first leg game in Accra, coach Xavier said, his was going to record the nation's first win over the Black Stars in Mozambique on Sunday.
“I am very confident my boys will beat the Black Stars, judging from what I saw in the first game, they were composed but lacked little confidence,” he noted.
According to the coach, they have learnt enough lessons after the first game and would work on their weaknesses ahead of the second game in Maputo.
Coach Xavier, said though Ghana has a lot of quality and experienced players, they have what it takes to overcome the challenge.
Frank Acheampong opened the scoring for Ghana in the first half, with captain John Boye making it two in the second half and a clinical finish from Jordan Ayew to complete 3-1 scoreline for the Stars after Apson Manjate got a consolation goal for the Mambas.
Ghana leads Group H with nine points as they head to Mozambique for the return leg of the 2017 AFCON qualifier after winning by 3:1 in the first leg.
