According to Joy Online, former Ghana coach Mariano Barreto has told football?s world governing body, FIFA, that he left the Black Stars job because he felt threatened.
Barreto was responding to a complaint lodged with the world soccer controlling body by the Ghana Football Association over his unexpected decision to quit his post while still under contract.
Following Barreto?s departure, the GFA lodged a formal complaint with FIFA seeking compensation from the Portuguese for breach of contract.
This latest claim by Barreto that his life was under threat during his short spell in Ghana follows his earlier accusations that the Ghanaian FA failed to publicly support him in the wake of persistent media vilification.
Barreto denied claims that he abandoned Ghana job to take up a new job with Portuguese club, Maritimo, claiming he had given the FA prior notice of his decision.
Mariano Barreto left the Ghana job after leading the Black Stars to a 2-0 win over Cape Verde in a 2006 Group Two World Cup qualifier last year in Kumasi
