Nania will survive - Abedi Pele

Abedi Pele is breathing easier these days after his one year ban was lifted upon review from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

His image was tarnished by the ban both in and out of Ghana and his ambassadorial role in the 2010 South African World Cup was hanging by the thread.

But Abedi Pele's popularity is now waning due to his involvement in off the field incident with his club, Nania FC.

Though he was personally cleared of all charges and thus gets his liberty back, the same cannot be said for his club, he now has to roll out Nania's future for the year ahead as his team heads back to Division One.

Nania FC is now in Division One alongside Mighty Jets, Okwawu United and Great Mariners who were all penalized for their involvement in a match of convenience which saw them recording cricket scorelines in a middle league game. Nania beat Okwawu 31:0 while Mighty Jets whitewashed Mariners 28-0.

The Disciplinary Committee of the FA thus, in accordance with the rules and regulations demoted the clubs and fined them.

Pele is now at the crossroads since all his appeals to get Nania to maintain a Premier League status became ineffective.

But Pele who felt hard done by the FA believes justice was unfairly served and has threatened to take the matter up to the highest body of football, FIFA to get the right justice.

The ever optimist Abedi considers his team will pull through in the Division One league and that it will not be long to stage a big comeback in Ghana football.

"Nania is my club and I will do everything to protect it, we will definitely bounce back, we played in the Division One before so this is no new terrain for us", the All Sports newspaper quotes Pele as speaking on a different platform.

For team Nania and the players who were banned, it could possibly hit them low as some of them have been transferred outside the country for spells in Europe. The transfer of players seems to be a club policy as Pele has established contacts with European clubs to trade his players.

The Nania team in April won an invitational tourney in India, at the time the FA was stepping up their investigations against the match-fixing scandal.

Nania like most clubs in Ghana have also hit the headlines with some enterprising players such as Andre Ayew Pele, Ahmed Barusso and Kwabena.
