National U 23 coach, Austin Eguavoen has said he bore no pressure ahead of the 2011 All Africa Games qualifier against Ghana, boasting that the Nigerian team have enough fire power to silence their opponents in Benin this weekend.
Speaking in Lagos yesterday, Eguavoen quipped, “I and my entire team are not under any form of pressure,”adding, however, “you should know that any time Nigeria and Ghana have a match in any category, there is always tension on both sides. It is mutual. The Ghanians too are always uncomfortable when they face Nigeria. But we remain confident.”
Eguavoen said the Olympic team was equal to the task “We have a lot of good players and we cannot be intimidated by by team,”the coach said.
He promised to maintain the team he has been winning matches with but added that there will be a few new faces just to reinforce the squad.
“We are not going to introduce many new faces but players like Odion Ighalo will be coming in, Nosa Igiebor will be coming in. But I they don’t come we still have other strong players that can play.”
Eguavoen denied that Ahmed Musa would not be part of the Ghana match. “That is not true,” he said, adding, “Ahmed Musa will play. I know there is the fear of burning out. We will not allow that happen because, we won’t put pressure on him to play for us.”
