Nii Lantey calls on Grant to start Warris, Badu

Minister of Youth and Sports, Honourable Nii Lante Vanderpuye Minister of Youth and Sports, Honourable Nii Lante Vanderpuye

Minister of Youth and Sports, Honourable Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has highlighted the need for Avram Grant to name Emmanuel Agyemang Badu and Majid Warris in the starting line-up when they face the Pharaohs of Egypt in a 2018 World Cup qualifier.

Both players have fallen out of favour with Grant, leading to their inability to feature in his starting line-up recently but, the minister thinks their start in this match will give the Black Stars the flair to control affairs
in the highly-anticipated match.

“Considering the style of play of the Egyptians, we need players like Agyemang Badu and Wakaso to be playing shots from afar, whilst on the upfront, players like Dede Ayew and Warris can torment the defenders of the Egyptians, considering their slow build-up from the back.

“Our defenders should keep their heads cool, they should refrain from playing square passes at the back because the Egyptians will come after us with their speed, especially in the first 20 minutes.”

The minister also reiterated the need for Dede Ayew to be played upfront with Warris as he has performed in that role at club level for West Ham and Swansea.
