No Libya friendly for Local Black Stars – Konadu

The head coach of the home-based group of the senior national team, Maxwell Konadu has confirmed to footy-Ghana.com that the purported international friendly with Libya will no longer hold as earlier reported in sections of the media.

“The match has been called off so we remain home and will begin camping for the CHAN at an appropriate time,” Konadu told footyGhana.

The Ghana FA recently received an invitation for a friendly encounter with Libya, a game which was pending confirmation. However, the game was reportedly set for the coming week with a supposed list of players called for the game circulating in the media.

“As far as I know the actual squad list I handed over to authorities for camping was not made public. I have no idea about the supposed list circulating in the media; it is not what I submitted,” Coach Maxwell Konadu denied.

Ghana booked a place in the tournament for the third successive time without kicking a ball after Benin withdrew from the preliminary qualification round. The 2014 CHAN tournament will be staged early next year in South Africa.
