Nyaho-Tamakloe/Executive Council impasse goes to Congress

Accra, Oct. 19, GNA - The Congress, the highest decision making body of Ghana Football Association, (GFA), would on Thursday, October 28 convened an Extraordinary Emergency meeting to deliberate on the impasse between the Chairman of the Management Board of the GFA and the Executive Council.

The emergency congress according to Mr Kofi Nsiah, General Secretary of the GFA is in pursuant to Article 9(d) (2) (iii) of the GFA statues.

According to Mr Nsiah, representatives of the various Premier league clubs and Division One clubs are to collect the notice for the meeting at the Secretariat of the GFA.

Prior to the Congress, the Executive Council of the GFA will hold a meeting on Wednesday, October 27 at the Secretariat of the GFA. It would be recalled that Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, Chairman of the Management Board of the GFA and the Executive Council have for the past weeks been involved in a power play over the administration of Ghana football.

Whilst Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe is of the view that the composition of the Council is too huge, describing it as "unworthy body of thirty seven people supervising the activities of a seven member management", the Council on the other hand believes it has in no way prevented the Management Board from embarking on any of its programmes.

The Council in an attempt to impeach the FA Chairman for his statements, failed as the latter sent the matter to court, which placed an interim injunction on the former restraining it from executing the impeachment procedure.

Both Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe and the Council have now sent the case to the corridors of the world football governing body, FIFA to seek redress.
