Odupong Heroes win protest

Cape Coast, May 9, GNA - The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has declared Great Odupong Heroes winners in their Division Two middle League match against Eyisam Lumuba Stars played at the Cape Coast Stadium on February 13, this year. Although Lumaba Stars won the match 3-1, they were declared losers for fielding two unqualified players - Ato Biney and Kwame Egyin - in the match.

The report said the players were not properly transferred and registered.

A release issued by the GFA disciplinary committee on Thursday awarded Heroes with points and deducted three points from the accumulated points of Lumaba Stars and ordered them to pay a fine of 500,000.00 cedis, out of which 250,000.00 would be paid to Heroes. By this verdict, Odupong Heroes who finished third with seven points would now gained 10 points to top the league table and to gain promotion to the First Division. The management of Odupong Heroes not satisfied with the ruling appealed to the Appeals Committee of GFA but lost. "The committee after considering the prong and cons of the matter upheld the protest in accordance with Article 35 of GFA regulation and declared Odupong Heroes winners", the statement said.
