Okwawu United FC search for new coach

Acccra, Nov. 25, GNA - Play-off candidates, Okwawu United are currently in the market in search of a new coach to handle the club as they prepare to engage Sekondi Hsaacas in a play-off to determine which of them joins the Division One League next season.

This follows the dismissal of their head coach, J. E. Sarpong last Tuesday by the Management Board of the club for his non- performance. Okwawu United at the end of the 2004 novelty zonal league placed second from bottom on Zone "B" to escape outright relegation by the skin of the teeth.

Mr Oduro Nyarko, Secretary to the Management told the GNA Sports that the club has set eyes on a number of coaches on the local scene and are making the necessary investigations and contacts to settle on the best choice.

Though he failed to disclose the names of the coaches on their shopping list, Mr Nyarko said the club would name a substantive coach by the close of the week to prepare the team for their game against Hasaacas.

He said the game is so important to the continued stay of the club in the Premiership that they attaching a lot of seriousness to it to ensure total victory.

Mr Nyarko said the team is currently in camp preparing for the game and expressed the hope that victory will be theirs when they clash with "the Giants of the West".

The Professional League Board (PLB) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is yet to announce the date for the play off game between the two sides.

The winner of the encounter will automatically stay in the Premiership whilst the loser play's the third team from the National Middle League in another decider.

The winner of that encounter joins the Premiership whilst the loser stays put at the National Division One league.
