The Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dismissed the appealed filed by Okwawu United against the ruling of the Disciplinary Committee (DC) in respect of their 7th week GT Premier League match played at Mpraeso against Real Tamale United. An impeccable source close to the corridors of the Committee told SPACE FM that Okwawu United?s submission at the Committee?s hearing yesterday lacked merit and fresh evidence: hence the decision of the Committee to dismiss it.
The Committee has therefore upheld the earlier ruling by the Disciplinary Committee which declared Okwawu losers of the said match, and three points deducted from their accumulated points build-up. The Appeals Committee also upheld the decision of DC to award Real Tamale United three points and three goals in line with the relevant provisions of the GFA rules and regulations. Again, the two-home match ban imposed on Okwawu was made to stand.
Additionally, a fine of one million cedis has been imposed on Okwawu United. However, an earlier fine of five million cedis imposed on Okwawu was set aside according to the source.
It would be recalled that the 7th week league match involving Okwawu United and Real Tamale United at Mpraeso ended abruptly when an alledged fan of Okwawu hit the referee, Alhassan Brobbey with a missile. The game was 1-1 at the time of the incident.
Later in an interview, the Board secretary of Okwawu United, Oduro Nyarko told SPACE FM that he would not appeal to Appeals Committee for Review. He said they were going to put the decision behind them and plunge into serious preparation for the rest of their matches, adding that they would win all their matches notwithstanding the two-home match ban imposed on them.
In Another development, Oduro Nyarko has hinted about the decision of Okwawu United to protest against B.A. United for fielding an unqualified player in the person of Charles Ampiah in the 10th week league match played at Sunyani last week. ?All documents are ready for us to file our protest this morning?, he told Kwabena Kyere Stugard of SPACE FM.
Meanwhile, Okwawu United?s next home match against Kumasi Asante Kotoko would be honoured at Cape Coast Siwdu Park as the beginning of the two-home ban.
