Olympics will eye premiership title

Accra, May 16, GNA - Accra Great Olympics will be seeking to grab the ultimate in this year's premiership which commences in July, after a season in the Division One League.

Coach Ken August told the GNA Sports in an interview that the Club is currently in serious preparations towards the competition and with the right attitude and fair officiating they are sure of achieving the enviable feat.

He said the playing body is currently undergoing a two-way pre-season preparation for the commencement of the Premier League aimed at presenting a formidable set- up.

According to the coach, the main team is undergoing a conditioning exercise to increase their fitness level, while some new players are also being assessed for a possible recruitment.

Coach August said he is hoping to present a formidable side made up of young and talented players who are hungry for success which he believes will be his strength in the competition.

"With young and talented players who are aspiring to make an entry into the national team, there is no doubt that they will be willing to go the extra mile to win laurels unlike the old and experienced ones who are more interested in money or travelling outside the country". Coach August however, said his major headache is the level of officiating of the competition.

According to the coach, Olympics stand the chance of achieving the desired target if fair officiating is assured. Coach August said he is also looking forward to change the trend which sees the Club always fighting and surviving relegation at the end of every season, adding that from now onwards the Club will always be among the best at the end of each soccer season.

He said among his other plans is to discard the focus of the Club for always bent on beating some few teams in the Premier League instead of concentrating on winning all their matches.

"I think setting our focus on either Accra Hearts of Oak, Kumasi Asante Kotoko or some few Clubs will not do us any good, hence that perception must be done away with".

"Our aim now is to win every match to ensure that we acquire the maximum points which will in no doubt make us successful at the end of the season". 16 May 06
