Moscow - Quincy Owusu-Abeyie has opted to play for Ghana. His manager announced this on Wednesday in Amsterdam. Both parents of the previous Arsenal striker are from Ghana, but he was born and bred in the Netherlands.
The 20-year-old has given up any hope of returning to the Dutch U-21 team.
Ghana has been following the Spartak Moscow player for quite some time now, but he had not accepted until now because he wanted to play for for the Young Orange. However, he is yet to hear from Coach Foppe de Haan on his performance, therefore he has chosen a future with Ghana. This is also a wish of his parents.
Owusu-Abeyie made a big impression in 2005 at the U20 World Cup with the Dutch team of Coach Foppe de Haan. After that the quick striker fell out of sight of Young Orange, partly because his relocation to Moscow, but also because of a decline in form.
