Orlando Pirates are said to be monitoring the situation of Ghana defender Mohammed Awal at fellow Absa Premiership side Maritzburg United.
According to a publication by the renowned Soccer Laduma, Buccaneers have been trying to lure the robust defender to Parktown since last season.
But Awal is eyeing a move to Europe and reports in Ghana claim two unnamed Dutch Eredivise sides are said to be interested.
The 26-year-old’s contract with the Team of Choice runs out at the end of the 2014/15 season.
Sources very close to the Awal camp have revealed that the Buccaneers would have to table a very attractive offer if they are to persuade the Ghanaian to remain in South Africa.
Pirates will be competing in this season’s CAF Confederation Cup after clinching the 2013 Nedbank Cup and, will be looking to bolster their squad with quality players to compete in both the league and continental showpiece.
