Pirates rave about Dauda's displays

South African Premier Soccer League side Orlando Pirates have lauded goalkeeper Fatau Dauda for his impressive displays at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Dauda was benched for Ghana’s first Group G match against USA but was re-instated for the 2-2 draw with Germany.

He was retained between the sticks for the final match against Portugal in Brasilia.

Dauda’s committed a blunder and helped Cristiano Ronaldo to score the match winner in the 2-1 defeat.

He flapped an aerial ball back into play for the Real Madrid star to smash home but Orlando Pirates were impressed with his overall performance in the tournament.

“Dauda has shown he is a goalkeeper of stature and talent. It takes a special keeper to deny one of the best players in world football Cristiano Ronaldo’s multiple efforts on goal. Dauda has made us very proud as a club,” Pirates PRO Mickey Modisane said.

“Pirates are one of only two clubs in the PSL to have a representative in the 2014 World Cup. We look forward to the experience he will bring from Brazil which will make him a better keeper.”
