Portsmouth Sign Quincy Owusu-Abeyie

Portsmouth have moved quickly after their transfer embargo was lifted on Tuesday and have signed Dutch-born Ghanaian Quincy Owusu-Abeyie.

Quincy Owusu-Abeyie started his career at Arsenal but made only five appearances in three years for the Gunners.

He moved to Spartak Moscow in 2006 where he was loaned out to Celta De Vigo, Birmigham City and Cardiff City over the next three years.

He was expected to sign for La Liga side Malaga but Portsmouth have moved quickly to secure his services and add to their attacking line.

Avram Grant's side had been prevented from any activity in the January transfer window after the Premier League imposed a transfer embargo on the club due to fee's owed to other clubs for past transfers.

However, the embargo was lifted on Tuesday but Portmouth are only allowed to sign players on loan or players available on free transfers.

Grant has been in contact with Owusu-Abeyie's agent and personal terms have been agreed with the player expected to sign a contract later on Wednesday evening.
