The Ghana Premier League goes on another break with four matches to end the season, the Premier League Board has confirmed.
The latest break is to allow the country to participate in the revamped West African Football Union (Wafu) Nations Cup tournament which runs from 5-15 May.
The 10-day tournament in Nigeria means the country’s top flight league will be suspended again following consistent breaks in this year’s league which has received massive criticism from soccer fans in Ghana.
“The FA has directed that the league goes on a break as a result of the Wafu tournament which is clearly outside our domain,” Premier League boss Welbeck Abrah-Appiah said.
“We have to apologise to soccer fans that we have to break the league again. It’s not our doing but that of Wafu.”
The PLB has confirmed the league will resume on 18 May.
