Seven players and two officials of the national women?s national team have been refused visas by the United States Embassy.
According to the US Embassy, the players and officials lack travel experience and are not gainfully employed in Ghana, so they fear they may not return to Ghana after.
This has delayed a planned training tour of the US for the Black Queens as they prepare for the commencement of the African Women?s Championships.
The handlers of the national team have appealed the decision of the embassy. The rest of the team are now expected to leave Ghana today and will return on October 21, seven days before the start of the women?s championships in Nigeria.
Ghana has been grouped alongside Mali, Cameroon and DR Congo.
