Queen's game scheduled for Sunday

Accra, Oct 24, GNA - The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has rescheduled the Olympic Games qualifier match involving the Ghana's Black Queens and the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Kumasi Sports Stadium to Sunday, October 26, instead of the original date of Saturday, October 25.

The change is as a result of flight problems the Congolese are encountering in their transit to Ghana.

Sources close to the GNA Sports said the visitors, who were expected in the country on Thursday, are now scheduled to arrive in Accra on Saturday from where they will proceed to the Garden City, Kumasi, to engage the Queens the next day.

The source indicated that though the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has been informed about the plight of the Congolese by FIFA, it (GFA) does not know where the stranded Congolese team is; but is optimistic that the visitors will arrive by the close of Saturday for the match.

Meanwhile, the Queens who moved to Kumasi on Thursday ahead of the game told the GNA Sports in separate interviews that they were ready to take on their opponents.

Genevieve Clottey, one of the team's ace midfielders, said the Queens are focus irrespective of the change.
