Queens gain walkover Congolese

The first leg of the final African Women?s Championship qualifying game between Ghana's Black Queens and Congo would not kick off afterall.

The Black Queens have thus expected to gain a walkover in this afternoon?s game after the Central African side failed to turn up for the match.

The Congolese have still not arrived in Ghana for the final eliminator scheduled to be played the Obuasi Len Clay stadium, Sunday afternoon.

The whereabouts of the Congo team remains unknown.

The team that was expected in Ghana midweek has failed to show up though reports say they would be arriving Sunday evening.

However, across the continent, other qualifying matches would be played.

In Algiers, the all-North African affair pitches Algeria and Egypt, while Mali and Benin will also engage in an all-West African contest.

Defending champions, Nigeria, who have stepped in the place of Gabon to host this year?s event, are billed to play Equitorial Guinea, while South Africa play Tanzania, with 2004 runners-up, Cameroon, hosting Kenya in the first leg.

The Democratic Republic of Congo who have been to all previous competitions are also seeking their fifth ticket against Senegal.
