Accra, Sept. 1, GNA - As the Black Stars come up against the Cranes of Uganda in the penultimate World Cup qualifier on Sunday, the Retire National Footballers Association (RENFAG) has sent a goodwill message to the team urging them to go for the "kill".
In a statement signed by Reverend Osei Kofi, former national star, the association challenged the players and their technical handlers to do the nation proud by winning the last two games against Uganda and Cape Verde Island respectively.
"We wish you well as you strive to make Ghana proud by qualifying for the World Cup for the first time, and we hope that this dream will become a reality" the statement said.
Ghana tops the log on 15 points, albeit on goals difference in Group Two made up of South Africa, DR Congo, Burkina Faso, Uganda and Cape Verde.
South Africa is on the heels of Ghana also on 15 points but with inferior goals followed by DR Congo on 12 points. The group's dark horses Cape Verde Island occupy the fourth position with 10 points, Burkina Faso on 9 points while Uganda is rooted at the bottom with seven points.
The Stars would have to win their last two games to join the world soccer elites in Germany next year.
