Tonight in the garden city of Kumasi, the curtain on the illustrious career of Sammy Kuffour draws to a close when a testimonial match between the Friends of Kuffour and the Black Stars is played in honour of the former Bayern Munich and Ghana defender.
A rich list of former Ghana internationals including former national team captains Abedi Pele, C.K. Akunnor and Stephen Appiah are all expected to line up for the Friends of Kuffour who will also have on parade international stars as Mark Fish, Patrick Mboma, Jay Jay Okocha, Oliver Khan, Lothar Matheous among others.
Also expected among a host of dignitaries are former Ghana presidents Jerry Rawlings and John Kufuor as well as the Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu II and Gbese Mantse Nii Ayibonte II.
Kuffour will feature for the Friends of Kuffour who will dress in Bayern Munich jersey in the first half before switching to play for the Black Stars in the second half, for the last time ever.
Musicians Kwaw Kesse alias Abodam, Mzbel, Castro, Afriyie of Wutah fame and ace highlife singer pat Thomas will also wow the audience both at the game and the post-match dinner later tonight.
