Samuel Owusu recalls how he nearly rejected Kwesi Appiah’s call to the senior national team

Black Stars winger Samuel Owusu says he almost rejected a call from ertswhile Black Stars Coach James Kwesi Appiah, inviting him to the senior national team for the first time, because he doesn’t answer calls from unknown numbers.

Samuel was one of the players handed their senior national team debut on Kwesi Appiah’s second stint.

The 24-year-old midfielder who then plied his trade in the Serbian top-flight with Cuckaricki has recalled how he almost rejected Kwesi Appiah’s first call when it came through because he doesn’t pick unknown numbers.

According to the Al – Fayha winger, he doesn’t pick unknown numbers but his instinct told him to pick it when Kwesi Appiah called him.

” The thing about me, I don’t pick unknown calls. One day a number started calling. It was a Ghana number. Then something touched me to pick it. I finally did and the person was coach Kwasi Appiah inviting me to the national team. But I nearly rejected the call,”

The former Vision FC winger has since established himself as one of the best players in the National team after He excelled during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nation staged in Egypt.
