The national U-20 team is scheduled to play two international friendlies against Burkina Faso and Mali as they prepare to launch an assault for next year’s African Youth Cup in Burkina Faso. Satellites coach Anthony Adusei who is taking 30 players through daily training at the Winneba Sports College could not exactly tell myjoyonline when the game is to be played but said they would definitely come on.
Adusei’s headache now is the unavailability of some foreign-based players who he says are needed to beef up the present squad. The team struggled before getting past Tunisia in the qualifiers on penalties and Adusei is keen to add to his squad with a few experienced hands.
Razak Pimpong and Sule Muntari played at the last world youth cup in Argentina and are on the coach’s list. Also set to make up the team is Borrusia Monchengladbach’s Gedo Mohammed who Adusei has been following over the past few months.
The Satellites are drawn in what experts say is the group of death at the January 4-18 championships alongside two-time champions Egypt, 1997, champions Morocco and neighbours Ivory Coast who have always been difficult opposition for Ghana in football at any level.
