Satellites in overseas players' dilemma

Chairman of Ghana's Under-20 national team has weighed in on the controversial foreign player discussion.

Winfred Osei says efforts will be made to get some foreign-based players to join the home-based crop currently in camp. It is all in preparation for the Fifa Under-20 World Cup in May.

The Black Satellites opened camp on Tuesday, with all local players invited by Sellas Tetteh reporting. They will play a justifier while the 14 foreign-based players called up are yet to report.

”We asked the foreign players to join the squad to give the coach the full scope to be able to select his final team,” he said.

“But no matter what the case be, there is no way that you can get all your players in the camp because of the Fifa rules. The players are in competition at their clubs so we will have to make do with what we will get.”

Ghana are drawn in Group B of the New Zealand World Cup against Argentina, Austria and Panama.
