Schalke 04 pip Vipers in a bid to escape relegation

Mankessim, Nov 18, GNA - Cape Coast Venomous Vipers lost 3-2 to relegation threatened Schalke 04 in their Division One League match played at Mankessim.

Schalke 04 kicked off strongly and scored the opener in the 19th minute through a spot kick taken by midfielder, Mohammed Polo. Inspired by the early goal, Schalke 04 continued to pile pressure on their opponents and increased the tally to two in the 39th minute through inside right Lawrence Dadzie.

On resumption of the second half, Vipers took control of the game and levelled up the scores through their playmaker, Joseph Addae who hit the net twice in the 56th and 75th minutes. The game from then on became a balanced game but with their determination to escape relegation, the Schalke 04 boys redoubled their effort to score the match winner in the 82nd minute through centre half Budu Acquah.

In another development, Odupon Heroes beat Tarkwa Real United 3-0 in the national Division One (Zone 2B) League match played at Kasoa. Results of other matches were All Blacks beat Samartex 1-0 with Wise Fighters spanking PARMA 3-0.

Swedru All Blacks have meanwhile placed second with 28 points to join Sekondi Wise Fighters who placed first with 31 points in the National Division One (Zone 2B) league to participate in the national sub-middle league. 17 Nov. 05
