Silver Stars Chairman takes a swipe at the GFA

Accra, July 30, GNA - Mr Perry Sowah, Chairman of Silver Stars Football Club, a division two club, has lashed out at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for neglecting division two clubs who are playing a vital role in the development of the game. "They do not give us anything to support the development of players which does not come cheap but they are the first to take their share of the transfer fees when these players get contracts outside"

Mr Sowah, told the GNA Sport after his team was held to a one all drawn game by Bravo Bravo in their league encounter played at the Indafa Park on Saturday. He said the lack of so many basic facilities like ball and other teams by many of the division two clubs are severely hampering the development of players from the junior ranks to replace their senior colleges in the premiership. Mr Sowah urged the GFA to come to their aid and also revitalise the FA Cup to afford players from the junior ranks the opportunity to rub shoulders with their senior colleges as it helps build their confidence and an important learning avenue.

In the match itself, Silver Stars Isaac Asante opened the scoring for Silver Stars in the 25th minute but the Bravo Bravo quickly regrouped and equalised in the 25th minutes through Abdul Fatau Wahab in the 41st minute. At the same venue earlier on the same day, Oblogo Nikwab Professionals beat Fulham F/C by a lone goal in another division two encounter. Aaron Baah scored the only goal of the match.
