Accra, Dec 16, GNA - Six individuals have been elected by the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) to become members of the newly created 22-man Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The six will represent the interest of the Premier League Clubs at the top-level management board of the GFA.
The newly elected members are, Mr George Amoako of Kumasi King Faisal, Kudjo Fianoo of Obuasi Ashgold, Nana Ntiri of Okwawu United, Awuah Nyamekye of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Randy Abbey of Accra Hearts of Oak and Abu Jones Alhassan representing Real Tamale United (RTU). Under the new constitution of the GFA, GHALCA will make a presentation of ten members to the Committee, which will include six members from the Premier League Clubs and four members from the Division One League Clubs.
The new arrangement is in conformity with the new statues of the GFA.
Representatives from the Division One League Clubs are however expected to elect members to the Committee on Friday, December 23 at a special election at the secretariat of GHALCA.
A statement from the secretariat of GHALCA signed by Miss Joyce Asante-Amoah on behalf of the Administrative Manager said, Mr S. Oduro Nyarko has meanwhile been appointed as the Electoral Officer for the elections.
The statement said members who are interested in contesting for the remaining four slots are to pick and complete Letters of Intent at the secretariat of GHALCA.
Other bodies mandated by the new constitution to elect members to the Committee are the Schools, Colleges and Universities and the Security Services Sports Association, (SESSA) who are to submit a member each while Chairmen of the Regional Football Associations (RFA) from the ten regions are automatic members by virtue of their regional positions. The GFA is scheduled to elect a President of the Committee on Friday, December 30.
Five candidates are contesting for the hot seat. They include the Acting Chairman of the GFA, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyie, Mr Yussif Adam Ibrahim, former Chairman of the defunct Executive Council, Mr Kojo Bonsu, former ADIDAS Representative to Ghana, Mr Vincent Sowah Odotei, a businessman and Mr Joseph Ade-Coker, former Vice Chairman of the GFA. 16 Dec 05
