Sports One Network joins "Operation Six Points' agenda

Accra, Aug 30. GNA - Sports One Network, a sports consultancy firm has joined the fund raising campaign to support the senior national team, the Black Stars to qualify for the 2006 World Cup, scheduled for Germany.

The company has therefore initiated a special raffle on the day of the Black Stars epic match against the Ugandan Cranes at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on Sunday, September 4.

The company has therefore received endorsement from the Ministry of Education and Sports to embark on the special raffle of which a percentage of the proceeds will be shared among the team, the National Sports Council (NSC), the organisers and other stakeholders. According to the organisers, a raffle ticket of 5,000 cedis will be on sale alongside the match tickets and the winner will enjoy a round trip ticket to Cape Verde to watch the Stars last qualifying game plus pocket money of 500 dollars.

Raffle winners who place from the second to tenth positions will receive a fully connected mobile phone as well as other consolation prizes such as standing fans, radio cassettes and "T" Shirts. A statement of endorsement of the Raffle from the Ministry of Education and Sports signed by Dr. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah, Director of Sports Development said the playing body and the technical team of the Black Stars shall be entitled to 100 million, with 30 per cent of the proceeds going into sports development.

The NSC shall also receive 20 per cent of the proceeds while the GFA and the Retired Footballers Association receive 10 per cent each of the proceeds.

Sports One Network, organisers of the Raffle shall also pocket 30 per cent of the proceeds.
