JOHANNESBURG — Ghana captain Stephen Appiah says his team is in a good position to advance from the first round of the World Cup ahead of Saturday's Group D match against Australia.
The only African side to have won a game so far in the tournament, Ghana opened with a 1-0 win over Serbia and is tied on three points with leader Germany.
Appiah says "we are in a very good position and we are all very excited about it."
Appiah is Ghana's regular captain but only came on as a late second-half substitute against the Serbs.
