Tickets Sell At Lightening Pace

If you needed any evidence of how much Kotoko’s upcoming Africa Cup Winners Cup grand final match against Wydad of Morocco has captured the imagination of the Porcupine faithful, then the rate at which advanced tickets issued by the club today was sold should provide one.

Reports from Kumasi say large number of people gathered at the Kumasi stadium and the Kotoko secretariat in long queues eager to acquire buy their way to the big game. Tickets priced at 200,000 and 150,000 cedis have already been sold out in Kumasi for a football match, which has attracted the highest gate fee in Ghana in living memory.

The lowest priced ticket for the popular stand goes for 30,000. Starved of continental glory for nineteen long years, Kotoko fans see Sunday’s tie as the moment to reclaim their place as a force on the continent. No wonder the fans are planning an atmosphere they say is second to none. “Everybody knows Kotoko’s support is second to none. On Sunday, we will paint the stadium all red and create an atmosphere that would cancel out our one goal deficit from the first leg even before the match starts”, Opoku Agyemang, Greater Accra chairman of the supporters wing told myjoyonline sports.

In return for their overwhelming support, Agyemang says the fans would expect nothing but victory from the players. “The players know what is at stake and they have promised to deliver. They know how much this means. What we want is nothing but victory on Sunday”, Agyemang said.
