Tigo launches replica jerseys for Kotoko

Kumasi, April 24, GNA - Millicom Ghana Limited, operators of Tigo telecommunication services and sponsors of Kumasi Asante Kotoko F/C, on Thursday launched replica jerseys for the Club at a ceremony in Kumasi. The jerseys, which were purchased for the Club under its package programme, are to be worn by the supporters, management and technical body during football matches nationwide. Mr Samuel Sarpong, Ashanti Territorial Manager of the company, said at the launch that Millicom was proud to be associated with sports in the country hence the one million-dollar package for Kotoko which was entered to last year.

He said the company's relationship with Kotoko was also to encourage the numerous supporters of the Club and the public to patronize its services.

Mr Sylvester Owusu-Asare, C hairman of Kotoko who led a five-member management team, technical, playing body and supporters to the function, lauded Tigo for its continued support to the Club ever since it entered into the partnership. He assured the supporters that Tigo's promise of presenting a bus to the Club would soon be delivered. Mr Owusu-Asare called on the supporters and other well-wishers to patronize the jerseys which sell at 10 Ghana cedis each to enable Kotoko generate enough revenue for its activities. Over 20 supporters of Kotoko who were proud winners of the company's promotion programme, were presented with a special replica jerseys at the ceremony. 24 April 09
