Today in History: Kwesi Appiah appointed Ghana coach

Exactly two years ago, the Ghana Football Association appointed Kwesi Appiah as the new coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars.

The ex-Ghana captain was installed and replaced Serb Goran Stevanovic after a disappointing 2012 Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Gabon and Equatorial.

By that decision, Appiah became the 41st coach to take charge of the Black Stars.

Appiah took the challenge and finished fourth at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

He perfumed his dominance by qualifying Ghana to the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals and crowned his qualification with a 6-1 first leg drubbing of Egypt in the playoffs.
