Ex-Ghana defender Tony Baffoe wants Leicester’s Jeffrey Schlupp to be looked at again by national team handlers.
The German-born Ghanaian international did not have a great start to life in Ghana when he played against Uganda in the Afcon qualifiers last month.
It got so bad that fans at the Kumasi Stadium jeered the defender in the match which finished 1-1.
“Jeffrey Schlupp is a very good player but it is unfortunate that he made his competitive debut at a point fans were against the Black Stars.
“The fans were against him and I think that might have affected his psychological attitude, so the technical team of the Black Stars ought to psyche him up to face the challenges when playing for Ghana,” he said.
After that, Kwesi Appiah replaced Schlupp with Baba Rahman in the next game against Togo. Rahman shone, which put serious pressure on Schlupp’s future with the team.
But after Appiah’s sacking, his temporary successor – Maxwell Konadu – has brought Schlupp back into his team that is preparing for the two-leg qualifier with Guinea.
