Kumasi, Jan 30, GNA - Defending champions, Kumasi King Faisal on Sunday thrashed Real Tamale United (RTU) 3-0 in their GHALCA/Coca-Cola Top Four Tournament at the Kumasi Sports stadium. Faisal scored two of their goals in the first half through Sumaila Alhassan and Eric Gawu in the 23rd and 24th minutes respectively.
RTU, who stepped in for Kumasi Asante Kotoko following their withdrawal from the competition, could not exhibited any preparedness and allowed Faisal to control the greater part of the game. It therefore came as no surprise when Faisal increased the tally to 3-0 in the 53rd minute through Eric Gawu who connected home a perfect cross from Sumaila Alhassan.
The match was played in a virtual empty stadium that saw Faisal taking control of the midfield and launched series of attack on the defence of RTU which compelled the "Pride of the North" to defend and were unable therefore to redeem their image.
Shilla Illiasu of Faisal was adjudged the best player of the match and was presented with a ghetto blaster and Coca-Cola products. 30 Jan. 05
