Trades Union lauds Black Stars

Accra, Sept. 6, GNA - The Trades Union Congress (TUC) of Ghana has lauded the efforts of the senior national team, the Black Stars for convincing performance against the Cranes of Uganda in their World Cup qualifying match at the Baba Yara Sports stadium, Kumasi last Sunday. The TUC said it acknowledges that even though the Black Stars has a last hurdle to clear, the team has by its victory against the Cranes enormously enhanced their chances of qualifying for the first time for the World Cup.

A press release issued by the Secretary General of the TUC, Mr Kwasi Adu-Amankwah copied to the GNA Sports said Ghana's TUC is therefore urging the players to put their maximum efforts into the last game so as to seal Ghana's chances of appearing in the World Cup next year.

Mr Adu-Amankwah said Ghana's TUC is aware of the numerous benefits that accrue from soccer and more especially its high propensity to unify the people and therefore appealed to political and other leaders to make more meaningful investment in supporting the sport. The TUC took the opportunity to announce its decision to form a Keep Fit Club as well as inclusion f Fun Games in its 60th anniversary celebration.

It therefore urged all workers and the general public to join the TUC's Keep Fit Club to stay healthy and also join the fun games scheduled for the El-Wak Sports stadium on Saturday, September 17 as a way of promoting peace and health worker-employer relations among Ghanaian workers.
