Football federations and personalities have been paying their tributes to Alhaji Ibrahim Sly Tetteh, who sadly passed away Saturday morning.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital in Cape Coast where he had been rushed after he collapsed during a morning game.

The Liberty Professionals President, Sly Tetteh, who has extensive football interest in Togo, Benin and Kenya, with academies spread across those countries, played a key role in making a success out of the sport.

He played a huge role in the development of many Ghana players too, including Chelsea star Michael Essien, Inter Milan’s Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan, John Paintsil, Derek Boateng and many others.

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi on behalf of the sport body and the Executive Committee have also paid their respects.

"It's a sad day, we have lost an inspiration, role model, colleague and friend.

"He did for football what the game represents, fair play, dedication and excellence. He is an inspiration to many of us and his memory will never be far from our minds," the GFA President said.

Football federations - Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Liberia, Gambia and Sierra Leone - and the sub-regional body, the West Africa Football Union - Wafu, a body which he served on have also paid their respects, Kwesi Nyantakyi confirmed.

Sly Tetteh, a devout muslim, would be buried on Sunday in accordance with Islamic traditions.
