Accra Jan. 6, GNA - Two more soccer supporters who were arrested last Sunday during the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup Final match at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium were remanded in custody when they appeared before an Accra Circuit Court on Thursday.
The two Ayitey Samuel, a trader and Sorgho Omar Joachim, a teacher have been charged with possessing narcotic drugs. The court did not take their pleas and remanded them to reappear on January 20.
The prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Eric Amoako said on January 2, this year the two accused persons were arrested during the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra.
He said before the commencement of the match, security personnel were asked to conduct searches on soccer fans entering the stadium and they retrieved three wrappers of Indian hemp and a bottle of oil from Ayitey's pocket.
The Prosecutor said Joachim was also arrested with three wrappers of Indian hemp when he was entering "Gate five" of the stadium. According to the prosecution, Joachim stated that he bought the Indian Hemp from an unknown person at the gate.
