Under 13 Boys League launch

African Sports Kids (ASK) Foundation launch Under 13 Boys League at Nima

The African Sports Kids (ASK) Foundation has launched an exciting Under 13 League to be played at the Mallam Mustapher Park on the campus on the Islamic Education. Former national stars, Reverend Osei Kofi and Anthony Baffour were the special guests of honour with Sammy Heywood Okine representing the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) who launched the initiative by ASK Foundation to use sports as a tool for education and changing lifestyles for the better.

Reverend Osei Kofi who once played for Accra Hearts of Oak and later joined Asante Kotoko said the event is a bold initiative by the organisers and it should be sustained because in the next few years some of the kids who performed would be featuring for the national teams or top clubs. The Ex- Black Stars wizard dribbler advised the young players to be respectful to their parents and guardians as it is important for them to be disciplined from scratch off and on the pitch of play and will grow with it.

Tony Baffour, General Secretary of the Professional Players Association of Ghana (PFAG) who donated specially made Ghana designed ball to the Foundation charged the kids to be conscious about their environment and do everything possible to keep their surrounding clean. He congratulated the mastermind of the President of ASK Foundation, Mustapher Mohammed for creating the opportunity for the bless priviledged to play with or against the most fortunate.

According to Baffour, Ghana has massive football talents, but what makes the complete footballer is education and so his outfit fully supports the Foundation and would monitor and follow their progammes. He said most of the Black Stars players have Foundations and all of them are in support for the better development of the nation. “ Stephen Appiah, Michael essien, Johm Mensah and Tohn Paintsil, just to name a few all have Foundations and it show the importance footballers attach to education.

Mustapha Mohammed wished kids who lived in deprived communities would use their time wisely and judiciously and revise what is taught at school and not to involve in habits or socialize with what can cause social vices.

In an interesting game to open the programme which ends on December 28, Holy Stars of the Islamic Institute were thrashed 3-0 by All Mighty Kiitos.

Hip Life Artist D Flex alongside Katty Knowles Theater Group thrilled the large crowd who graced the launch. George Nyame aka Mr. Ghana who is a top official of the ASK Foundation also entertained the children with soft drinks and water.

The first ASK Foundation event attracted sponsors such as Valley Fresh Mineral water, Lesson Pharmacy, Zenab Burkina, Stetch Media, Print Court Ltd and BKY Furniture.
