Cape Coast, July 11, GNA - Cape Coast Venomous Vipers played a spectacular game to beat Odonase Schalke "04" 3-2 in a friendly soccer match at the Cape Coast Robert Mensah Sports stadium on Sunday.
Vipers scored the opener through midfielder, Alex Neequaye in the 20th minute in a keenly contested match watched by a sparse crowd, but Schalke "04" quickly levelled up the scores in the 25th minute through a spot kick taken by centre half, Mohammed Polo.
The game from then on became a ding-dong affair until the 40th minute when a hard-pressed defender of the visiting team, Kofi Baah deflected the ball into his own net to raise the scores to 2-1 in favour of Vipers.
Schalke "04" resumed the second half with greater determination and created several scoring chances but it was not until the 65th minute that outside right Ahmed Acquah got the equalizer with a sizzling shot. Both sides made frantic efforts to carry the day but Vipers had the edge in their attack and scored the match winner through substitute Ernest Mensah in the 85th minute.
In a related development, Nana Kojo Conduah VI Omanhene of Edina Traditional Area has been appointed patron of the club. A statement issued by the management of the Club, signed by its Chairman, Mr Kweku Tandoh said Mr Tony Mensah-Keen, a businessman based in Accra has been appointed the Club's Accra Representative. The statement said the appointments have been made to ensure smooth administration of the club.
