Ghana defender Isaac Vorsah has been slapped with a three-match by the German football authorities for being sent off last month.
The Hoffenheim centre-back has been suspended for three Bundesliga matches for his red card against Hertha Berlin in December.
But the timing of the suspension has come as a big relief to his club Hoffenheim becasue of the Africa Cup of Nations.
That is because he will serve the ban while he is at the tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea with the Ghana team.
But for the Cup of Nations, he would have missed the matches against Hannover 96, the German champions Borussia Dortmund and at home against FC Augsburg.
The Ghanaian international was dismissed by referee Peter Sippel for being the last man when he brought down Adrian Ramos of Hertha in the 1-1 draw at the WIRSOL Rhein-Energie-Stadion.
Hoffenheim have accepted the charge and decided not to appeal against the DFB’s decision to give Vorsah a three-game ban.
