The first game of match week 25 of the First Capital Plus Bank Premier League produced no goals when West Africa Football Academy hosted Bechem United at the Sogakope Park on Friday.
The Sogakope-based club succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Liberty Professionals on match week 24 at the Karl Reindolf park and looked more determined to return to winning ways, but were undone by a resolute Bechem side that resorted to low-block style of play and wait to hit on the counter.
Bechem United started the game with no intent attacking the home side who had good team chemistry; their performance in the league is not a fluke. And with home support at their disposal, they made their intent felt immediately.
A delicious through ball was sent into the Bechem United box by winger Samuel Tetteh, but Adu was the quickest to react before Ashimeru Majeed could cause any havoc. WAFA kept pushing early to draw the first blood and missed opportunities narrowly.
It was all WAFA in the first department of the game, Fofana, Majeed, Tetteh and Zakaria were on top issues and made Bechem run their pants out to ensure the game ended barren in the first half.
In the second half, Bechem pushed to cause an upset, but John Killa boys were not shaken by their resurgence and kept their shape. The tempo of the game rose with end-to-end action and match day official Theresa Bremansu had to stamp her authority in the game ensure sanity.
The game seem to be heading to a stalemate and so it ended.
