After winning convincingly against AshantiGold SC last Sunday, Medeama SC head straight to Sogakope to lock horns with newly promoted West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) who are languishing at the bottom of the League table.
Until the win against AshantiGold, Medeama had gone winless in their previous three games losing to Inter Allies in their opening game at the Tema Park by 2-0, drawing goalless with Wa All Stars at the T&A Park in Tarkwa and drawing two all with Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak.
With Nathaniel Asamoah registering a brace against Ashgold, there is no better motivation for the former Asante Kotoko striker ahead of their encounter with WAFA.
WAFA have had a tough season since joining the top flight registering only a win, just like Medeama and losing three.
The orchestrators of attractive and sumptuous football to the delight of their fans but struggle to translate it into valuable points needed to stay in the league. Perhaps the Sogakpoe outfit is suffering from inexperience or they are finding the kitchen too hot for their existence.
Today’s encounter will provide both sides the opportunity to register their second wins of the season. Even though WAFA has the advantage of playing at home, they do not look very formidable as they lost their first home game to AshantiGold by a lone goal in their week two encounter.
Speaking to sportscrusader.com ahead of the game, WAFA technical director, Sam Addy said, “we know playing in the league is obviously not going to be easy but it is too early to give up.
We have a brand of football which is not familiar with the other clubs and our philosophy remains the same. We are not the kind of teams that wants to win by all possible means at home.
Ours is to have a good game which is attractive and makes the fans happy. Winning is very important but it will come at the right time.”
As we gear up for the battle of Sogakope, who wins the game as the search for a second win continues for both sides.
